One more record for Imran Tahir, surpaas Allan Donald

Imran Tahir who has impressed despite South Africa’s below the expectation form in the tournament, taking eight wickets in the Proteas’ first five games. Tahir delivered for his team once again at Lord’s on Sunday, dismissing both Pakistan openers in the first four overs of his spell.

The 40-year leg-spinner gambled Fakhar Zaman caught at slip while attempting a ramp shot. He had a superb caught and bowl to dismiss Imam ul-Haq before getting Fakhar out as well.

Tahir’s second scalp saw him move above the legendary Allan Donald as South Africa’s most prolific wicket-taker at World Cups. He almost had a third in his next over, finding the edge of Mohammad Hafeez, but wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock was unable to cling on to the catch.

Tahir, who made his international debut in 2011, helped reduce Pakistan to 98-2 after the opening pair had put on 81 for the first wicket. South Africa have won just one of their six World Cup matches so far and will be eliminated if they are beaten by Pakistan.
