Debut to 2009 - Mishra did his Test Debut against Australia in the Second Test at Mohali (PCA stadium) due to leg spinner Anil Kumble was injured. Mishra took 5 for 71 runs in first innings and India won the match. after that Kumble took retire and Mishra become 2nd option for spin department. Mishra was in out in team during 2008 to 2011.
From 2009 to 2011 - Dhoni took captaincy from Anil Kumble. Dhoni always has best choice of orthodox left hand spinners which benefited team many of the occasion. As Harbhajan Singh was the experience and front line spinner Pragyan Ojha become the next best choice as orthodox left hander spinner for team. even during 2009 India dint play much of the cricket in Indian soil where Mishra could get chance.
From 2011 to 2013 - After debut of Ravichandran Ashwin and bad patch of Harbhajan Singh next best choice for India was Ashwin and Ojha for test and Slowly Jadeja become the most suitable for One Dayer. During this period Dhoni used both right and left-hander very well and give many victory to team. But in this time Mishra miss to impress much for make suitable position in team combination.
2014 to 2017 - During this period Ashwin and Jaeja made maximum impact in one day. Even this period Ravindra Jadeja become full member. Jadeja carry the benefit of batting in Tale ender which make even Pragym Ojha to keep seat on bench. Due to impact of growing age and demand of young player Mishra slowly missed the probably 11 many of the occasion.
2017 to present -Now in present due to numbers of choice now the competition is on pick. Player like Chahal, Kuldeep, Sunder and duo Ashwin & Jadeja, Amit Mishra have tough to impress as having challenge of growing age and Deeping fitness.
Amit Mishra is now 35 and have couple of years to comeback in Indian team. If he were playing for other country, then now might be the legend now days.
