Shikhar Dhawan has gone out of the ICC World Cup 2019

Team India suffered a major setback on Tuesday. Explosive opener Shikhar Dhawan has gone out of the ICC World Cup 2019 due to a thumb injury in the left hand.
Dhawan will stay away from cricket action for at least 3 weeks. Dhawan was injured during a match against Australia on Sunday.

Dhawan, who was the hero of team India's win over Australia, had a bouncer ball of Nathan Coulter-Nile on the thumb. Dhawan continued to stand on the crease despite screaming with pain and played 117  with the help of 16 fours in 109 balls. However, Dhawan did not field and Ravindra Jadeja has fielded the entire 50 overs.

Dhawan was scanned, in which his thumb got fractured. After this, there is a possibility of staying away from their cricket action for at least three weeks. Shikhar Dhawan will no longer be able to participate in India's forthcoming events.

Team India has to play matches against New Zealand, Pakistan, Afghanistan, West Indies and England in June.
Shikhar Dhawan is one of Team India's most successful cricketers in ICC tournaments. Being out of Dhawan is a big headache for Team India because the left-hand opener in ICC Tournaments has been fantastic. He has scored 6 hundred in ICC tournaments. In the 2015 World Cup, Dhawan had scored two hundred.

After a bad start against South Africa in the 2019 World Cup, he made a strong comeback and scored a century against defending champion Australia. Team India's 'Gabbar' was awarded the Man of the Match award for this innings.

With Dhawan out, KL Rahul can be seen opening for India in upcoming matches. Apart from this, one of Dinesh Karthik or Vijay Shankar can be given the responsibility of Number-4. Sources have come to know that Rishabh Pant or Ambati Rayudu can get an opportunity as an alternative to Shikhar Dhawan.
